The Art of PowerPoint: How Not to Make Your Audience Cringe and Snooze During Slideshow-Enhanced Presentations
Slideshow applications are meant to scaffold and enhance your presentation, not add to its fiery implosion. In this workshop, you will learn the key elements of slideshow presenting: everything from branding to color schemes to text strategies to how to use images tastefully. If you want to impress your professor/boss/client/audience/cat with your PowerPoint skills, then you’ll want to be at this workshop.

facilitator experience
A past provincially ranked competitive public speaker (Don’t worry; the skills transfer from Canada to the US) and instructional technology integrator, Mitchell Miller is currently completing his Master’s of Education in the Technology, Innovation, and Education program at Harvard. One of his biggest pet peeves is sitting through bad PowerPoint presentations … and slow walkers who hog the sidewalk.
intended audience
Anybody of all ages who is currently or will be using slideshow-enhanced public speaking in their academic, professional, or social lives. If you want to start hearing “Boy, that [insert your name here] sure gives a darn good presentation!” around your school/office/household, then you are the intended audience. If you think haphazardly placed clipart and twirling titles jazz up your presentation, then this is also the workshop for you.
Since this workshop focuses less on how to use PowerPoint and more so on how to excel at using PowerPoint, a basic knowledge of the PowerPoint application is advisable; however, a very brief overview of the software will be given at the beginning. Tutorials are also available on the web if you need to go over the steps of how to add text, images, animation, etc.
