Lampwork: You Can Melt Glass without a Furnace!
Flameworking, lampworking, or torchworking glass is an affordable and portable practice for anyone who wants to try hot glass sculpture on a small scale. It's like drawing mid-air with molten glass! In this skillshare you can learn some basic lampwork techniques that may be applied in different ways.

lesson plan
I will first talk about safety, and then demonstrate some basic lampworking techniques. As time allows, some students will get a chance to try these techniques in the workshop.
facilitator experience
I've been flameworking since 1998. I first taught myself by ordering a kit in the mail, and went on to study Glass at the Rhode Island School of Design. I also recently graduated from the first class of the Fab Academy through MIT.
intended audience
Ages 12 and up. People with good hand/ eye coordination. People who are afraid of torches and want to get over it.
