Laughter for the Health of it - introduction to Laughter Yoga
This workshop introduces particants to the benefit and practice of Laughter Yoga, as developed in India by Dr. Kataria.
During this introduction, participants will learn some of the background, science, and health benefit behind Laughter Yoga Practice,
while actively participating in a full Laughter Yoga Session. Practiced by 100,000's of people, in 1,000 of laughter groups in over 150 countries,
Laughter Yoga is a fun and easy way to de-stress your life and return the smile to your face!

lesson plan
1)- Introduction: What is Laughter Yoga, Why Practice it, What are its benefits
2)- Laughter Yoga around the world and here at home (including video and resources)
3)- Laughter Yoga Practice - using guided practice, participants will engage each other through exercise meant to
clear their minds, improve their moods, boost their immune systems, and remove stress.
4) -Laughter Meditation - Creating a safe space to connect to and release the real laughter we keep inside of us all.
5)- Meditation cool down and body scan - bring everyone back into themselves, and helping them notice any changes in their bodies/minds
6)- Discussion/Feedback/Follow-up

Stu Mendelson is a certified Laughter Yoga Leader, trained through the Dr. Kataria School of Laughter Yoga. (for more info. please visit (http://www.laughteryoga.org/)
Over the past 4 years, he has taught Laughter Yoga classes for: the B.U. Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation (for 7 semesters), and at the Boston Center for Adult Education.
Additionally, he lead dozens of Laughter Workshops for diverse groups and settings, including Boston Universities' Student Association, Vinfin Corp., ABCD Boston, and
the Marin Center for Yoga, CA.
intended audience
Open to all participants who are in reasonably, health shape - if you can walk for 10-15 without being out of breath then you can do this.
All Participants with a history of Heart Disease, exercise induced asthma, active Hernia, or who is having active, psychotic symptoms are
advised not to participate in the more strenuous exercises. All participants will be asked to fill out a health wavier to participate. Children over 9 are
welcomed when accompanied by a parent or guardian adult.
