lesson plan
Urban gardening basics (20 minutes- slideshow if possible)
-- containers (drainage, where to get them for free etc)
-- location (6 hours full sun availability, lead, where to get compost, nutrients needed- ie Ca, N)
-- watering (size of containers, amount of watering, when you water)
-- pests (beer traps for slugs, aphid sprays, ladybugs)
How to grow 5 vegetables in your urban garden (40 minutes, 8 per veg)
1) cucumbers
2) kale
3) tomatoes
4) basil
5) beans
Hands-on potting/discussion (30 minutes)
-- Potting some kind of quick-growing greens mix.
