Wonderful World of Wikis
You've probably heard of Wikipedia, but do you know what a wiki is? A wiki is a website that people collaboratively edit together. Wikis have been used for anything from planning camping trips to making a free encyclopedia is. The best part is that you don't need to know html or web design to contribute your knowledge to a wiki. This workshop will discuss what a wiki is, the difference between wikis and blogs, the different ways to start a wiki and how to edit a wiki using Mediawiki software

facilitator experience
I have been editing wikiHow (the second largest wiki to English Wikipedia) for over 3 years now. I've been an administrator there for almost 3 years. I've worked for Wikia, a company that boasts over 3,000 wikis, for about a year and a half. Right now, I'm working on starting up Sports wikis for Wikia. Some of the Wikia wikis I've helped set up are Boston Celtics Wiki, Recipes Wiki, Figure Skating Wiki and Pro-Wrestling Wiki. I have a Masters in Library and Information Science from Simmons College and am currently teaching a wiki apprenticeship to middleschoolers at the WB Rogers School in Hyde Park through Citizen Schools.
