Natural Cures for Seasonal Allergies

Do you suffer from Seasonal Allergies? Are you looking for something better than Claritin and a box of Kleenex? In this workshop, we'll discuss ways to increase your body's ability to tolerate allergens and how to manage your symptoms in the meantime.

We will be covering the following topics:

What are allergies?
The difference between pharmaceutical and natural approaches
How to increase your body's ability to tolerate allergens
Building a longterm strategy for allergy management
How to manage the symptoms in the meantime

(this class will not discuss food allergies except with regard to the impact of food allergies on seasonal allergies)

facilitator experience

Katja Swift has been practicing clinical herbalism since 2001. She apprenticed with Rosemary Gladstar and studied with Guido Masé.

She ran a family practice clinic in central Vermont for six years. During this time, she owned and worked a 150-acre certified organic farm, raising heritage breed livestock and market and herb gardens. She taught monthly at the local coop, and as a guest lecturer at Dartmouth Medical School and the UVM Medical School. She presented annually at the Northeast Organic Farming Association conference.

She has published articles in the journal of the Northeast Herbal Association. She is a member of the American Herbalists Guild, the Northeast Herbal Association, and United Plant Savers.

Since returning to Boston in 2007, Katja has taught regularly at the Boston School of Herbal Studies. Currently she is also presenting an ongoing herbal series in Brookline. Katja is currently in practice in Arlington, with plans to expand to Brookline this spring.
